  • Develop a generic leadership framework which is mapped across to an accreditation process that recognises both academic and experiential leadership development
  • Ensure leadership standards are clearly set out and embedded within all clinical education and training.
  • Establish the NLC Leadership Fellowship Programme which will promote multi professional learning

The Next Stage Review recognised that effective clinical leadership is critical if we are to achieve an NHS that genuinely has quality of care at its heart. Clinicians, more than any other group, are at the interface with patients and are armed with the knowledge of what patients want and need, and what is possible.

With the economic challe/Clinical Leadership/conference_NLC-129_objectivesnges facing the service it is imperative that frontline clinicians have the leadership capability to drive radical service redesign. Their ability to influence and manage change is critical to our success.

The Clinical Leadership work has focused so far on several key interdependent areas to ensure clinicians - whether they intend to move into leadership roles or not, are equipped for leadership.
