Media Training for CCG Leaders

In response to requests from leaders of CCGs a one-day media skills training course was developed jointly by the National Leadership Council, SHA communications teams and in conjunction with the Department of Health.  The course covers:

  • An introduction to the media and context setting – the immediate challenge for consortia
  • Being seen as the ‘face of change’ and leaders of local decision making
  • Tips and techniques for media interviews – how to get your message across
  • The media and how it works – insight into online, broadcast, print and an
  • understanding of what journalists want
  • The role you need to play as a clinical leader in handling the media, promoting and
  • safeguarding the reputation of the NHS
  • Simulated live media interviews – using realistic scenarios, participants will have
  • the opportunity to practice media interview techniques

This initiative has been evaluated, and learning from that evaluation has been incorporated into the new Framework for CCG Development that is now available.  Until the end of this financial year this specific media skills course remains available, accessed via SHA Communications Teams.
