Graduates Welcomed to NHS - 30th June - 1st July Birmingham

One hundred and fifty graduates, due to start the NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme in September, were welcomed to the NHS at a two day event in Birmingham this week.

The event was facilitated by Richard Stubbs, Programme Director of the NHS Innovation Challenge. Richard, who was on the scheme himself eight years ago, likened it to a “temporary passport”, giving the young graduates endless opportunities to build their career.

The graduates were warmly welcomed by Sir David Nicholson, NHS Chief Executive, and Jan Sobieraj, Interim Director of Workforce, DH. Sir David is a big supporter of the scheme, having started his own career in the NHS as a graduate trainee. The graduates also had an opportunity to listen to a number of high profile speakers from a range of healthcare organisations. In the evening, the graduates attended dinner with colleagues from the SHAs they would be working in.

This was the first time the graduates have all been together and it was a valuable networking experience.

Big thanks to Sonia Srutek, Leadership Development Manager, and the team for all their hard work in making this event a huge success and a memorable experience for the graduates attending.
